This seems to be a preprocessor problem. Could you have a look, which
preprocessor "cpp" is indeed invoked (e.g. by issuing 'cpp --version').
Using cpp bundled with gcc (up to and including development version 4.9)
I did not experienced any problems so far.

Ps. Although unrelated to your problem, you should use the most current
version (1.2.2) of the code.
