[DFTB-Plus-User] Regarding PDOS Calculations

Dear Mahesh,
many of your questions could be answered by consulting the manual supplied
with DFTB+.
In answer to your questions:
1. The detailed.xml file contains the same information as the detailed.out
file, only in a format that is harder to read for humans and easier for
computers. The lattice vectors in detailed.xml should be the ones last used
by the program, so if the calculation is converged, it should contain the
optimized coordinates.
2. The only difference between the coordinates in detailed.xml and
geom.out.xyz should be that all coordinates in detailed.xml are in Bohr
radii, while the .xyz file in in Angstrom. The conversion factor from
Angstrom to Bohr is about 1.8.
When combining coordinates from geom.out.xyz and lattice vectors from
detailed.xml, did you remember to convert the lattice vectors from Bohr to
Angstrom? If not, the lattice vectors you used for the PDOS calculations
are too large by a factor of about 2.
Why did you not simply use the geom.out.gen file? It contains the
coordinates and lattice vectors in the right format and units to be read by
DFTB+ without effort?
