Dear DFTB community members, dear Slako-users,

our DFTB community has grown in the last few years considerably, leading
to more than 2,000 registered research groups on the DFTB.ORG
website. We are very proud of having you all in the DFTB-community and
would like to thank you for your valuable contributions in applying
the DFTB method to a broad range of scientific problems.

In the future, we would like to enlarge the community even further and
also to involve you gradually more and more into the parameter
development. Using the experience of so many researchers, we hope to
extend the range of materials and scientific problems, to which the DFTB
methodology can be applied, in the future considerably.

While this goal still requires several steps to go, the first one just
has been made today. All parties offering Slater-Koster files on
DFTB.ORG have relicensed the most recent version of their parameter
sets. From now on, those SK-sets are available under the terms of the

  Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License
  http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/

From now on, you can download the sets without signing any license
agreement and use them for both, non-commercial and commercial
research. You can even modify and redistribute those sets if you wish
so, provided the licensing conditions are respected. (Please see the
description of each set for more details on the exact licensing conditions.)

We hope, this step allows you to use DFTB in your research more efficiently.

Best regards,

 Bálint Aradi
